2027: OK Movement Rejects Seriake Dickson’s ‘Nonsensical’ Label

The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement, popularly known as the OK Movement, has rejected comments by the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, describing its proposed campaign structure as “nonsensical.”

The movement also rejected any attempt by the NDC to absorb or control its structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Director-General of the OK Movement, John Ughulu, made the position known while responding to Dickson’s criticism of the movement’s decision to establish a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council.

Dickson, a former Bayelsa State governor, had argued that political support groups should complement political parties through grassroots mobilisation rather than establish structures that compete with official party machinery.

However, Ughulu disagreed with the characterization of the OK Movement as an ordinary support group.

He maintained that the movement was independently established and operates its own leadership, mobilisation and organisational structures at the national, state, local government and ward levels.

According to Ughulu, the movement brings together individuals from different political backgrounds who share support for Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 election.

He argued that if the Obidient Movement and Kwankwasiyya are described as support movements, there is a need to clearly define the identity and status of the OK Movement.

Ughulu stressed that the OK Movement was not created as an appendage of any political party or another movement.

He said the organisation would maintain its independent identity and would not allow its existing structures to be absorbed into the NDC.

The disagreement comes amid ongoing political realignments and efforts by opposition groups and movements to establish campaign structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
