Suspected motorcycle snatching syndicate smashed in Adamawa
A suspected three-member motorcycle-snatching syndicate said to have been terrorising the Guyuk axis of southern Adamawa State has been smashed.
The suspects, Mohammed Saleh, Suleiman Mohammadu and Ahmadu Damina, are all said to be from Shani, a Local Government Area in neighbouring Borno State.
The Adamawa State Police Command, which disclosed this on Sunday, said its operatives arrested the three suspected armed robbers for attacking and dispossessing a motorcycle rider of his motorcycle at Bobini Village in Guyuk Local Government Area.
“The suspects were arrested on 26th September 2026, after attacking and inflicting injuries on one Mr Abdu Buba of Bobini Village, Guyuk LGA, and robbing him of his motorcycle,” the command said in a press statement released by its spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje.
The command said preliminary investigation had revealed that the suspects were members of a syndicate specialising in attacking and robbing people of their motorcycles and other valuables.
“Shortly after their arrest, a large crowd gathered and attempted to lynch the suspects,” the police disclosed, adding that its operatives and local hunters acted swiftly to contain the situation.
The police said the victim was taken to a medical facility for treatment, while a motorcycle, cutlasses, a torchlight and other items were recovered from the suspects.
