PDP’s LADO Media Team Faults YAYI Over Manifesto Comments, Places Adebutu Ahead In Strategy

The Media Team of the Ladi Adebutu (LADO) campaign has pushed back against recent remarks by Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, describing his comments on the Peoples Democratic Party’s manifesto as misplaced and coming rather late in the political process.

Reacting to Adeola’s criticism of the PDP’s policy document for Ogun State, the team argued that any serious engagement with a manifesto ought to focus on its contents, proposals and the solutions it offers residents, rather than peripheral matters. It expressed surprise that the Senator was still raising questions about the document at this stage of the campaign season.

The team took particular exception to Adeola’s apparent focus on the size of the PDP campaign convoy, saying his energy would be better spent studying the issues Adebutu and the party have put forward. It said a closer look at those proposals would have given him a clearer sense of what the manifesto is designed to achieve for Ogun people.

According to the LADO Media Team, the Adebutu campaign is built around the everyday needs and aspirations of residents, with its programme anchored on human development, economic opportunity, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, employment and general welfare. The team said the campaign has kept up sustained engagement with communities and stakeholders across the state, insisting that a political movement’s strength should be judged by its connection with the people and the depth of its programme, not the length of its convoy.

The team also addressed Adeola’s references to Adebutu’s political history, urging the Senator to turn his attention instead to articulating his own policy agenda and clarifying the legal questions trailing his political journey, rather than attempting to shift the conversation back to the PDP manifesto. It said democracy is better served when political actors engage each other on ideas, policies and records instead of distractions and personal attacks.

Reiterating that the PDP campaign remains focused on presenting its vision to Ogun State voters, the Media Team challenged YAYI and other political actors to open their own programmes to public scrutiny, allowing residents to weigh the competing proposals before them. It maintained that the people of Ogun State are the ultimate judges, and that they deserve a contest built on issues, programmes, accountability and measurable commitments rather than diversion.
