‘Nobody will wear no.10’ – Argentina take decision ahead of Messi’s final game
The Argentine Football Association, AFA, has decided to leave Lionel Messi’s No. 10 shirt vacant for their upcoming international fixtures.
Messi is preparing to wear the iconic shirt for the final time, in a specially arranged farewell match against Benin this October.
But AFA has announced that they will leave the iconic No. 10 shirt vacant during the September and October international windows
“Until Leo Messi’s match, nobody will wear the 10,” Argentina head coach, Lionel Scaloni, said.
As a result, the squad will have no No. 10 for the upcoming friendlies against Bolivia and Burkina Faso.
The AFA will then decide who will inherit the iconic shirt only after Messi officially brings his international career to an end.
