An NBC News helicopter crashed in Los Angeles while covering a deadly accident involving a car and a bus.
At least two people inside the helicopter and one person on the ground were killed. Two other people were taken to the hospital.
The helicopter had been sent to cover an accident involving a car and a bus. The car reportedly crashed into the side of the bus, killing at least two people and leaving at least six others injured.
During NBC’s coverage, the presenter announced that the station had lost contact with the helicopter crew.
Later, she confirmed that the helicopter had crashed.
“We need a moment to process this,” she said before the broadcast stopped.
The mayor of Los Angeles also reacted to the tragedy and traveled to the scene.
“I’m devastated,” the mayor wrote on X. “My condolences go out to concerned family and loved ones.”
It is still unclear what caused the helicopter to crash.
Footage from the scene appears to show the helicopter losing power before falling from the sky.
US authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
