Kylian Mbappé was reportedly among 26 people targeted in an alleged kidnapping and robbery plot in France.
The Real Madrid star’s name appeared during an investigation into a suspected criminal network, according to French newspaper Le Parisien.
Investigators believe an 18-year-old French-Swiss prisoner, identified as Clément L., may have directed the network from jail.
The suspect was already being held at Villepinte prison over alleged involvement in organised robbery and procuring.
Authorities claim he used Snapchat under the name “Lester Z” to communicate with people outside the prison.
The investigation reportedly began after an attack on a watchmaker in Neuilly-sur-Seine in April 2026.
Police later examined phones linked to the suspect. The devices allegedly contained addresses and information about 26 possible targets.
The list reportedly included footballers, rappers, jewellery business owners and wealthy traders.
Mbappé was one of the most prominent names found during the investigation.
However, there is no evidence that anyone attempted to kidnap or attack the France captain.
His name reportedly appeared as a possible target during the suspected planning stage.
Clément L. and an alleged accomplice were charged with organised robbery in Nanterre on August 21, 2026.
The main suspect reportedly remains in custody and has been placed in isolation. An alleged accomplice was released under judicial supervision.
Investigators are trying to establish whether the group carried out any of the planned attacks and how much control the suspect allegedly exercised from prison.
