Agitated residents of Mankranso have reportedly stormed the community’s police station, demanding the handover of a suspect who was allegedly caught posing as a nurse while collecting blood samples from children.
The suspect is said to have been apprehended after allegedly moving from one school to another within the community, presenting himself as a health worker and taking blood samples from pupils.
His activities reportedly raised suspicion among residents, leading to his arrest and subsequent detention at the police station.
However, tensions reportedly escalated after some residents gathered at the station and demanded that the suspect be released into their custody.
The reason for the alleged blood collection, the identity of the individual or the institution he claimed to represent remain unclear.
It is also yet to be established whether the suspect had any medical training, whether the blood samples were taken for an authorised exercise or what he intended to do with them.
Police are expected to investigate the matter and establish how the suspect gained access to the schools and whether any children were placed at risk.
