The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has disbursed N24 million to 12 registered Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) across the state to strengthen their operations and improve grassroots services.

The intervention was presented to the beneficiary organisations on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the LASODA premises in Alausa, Ikeja.

Speaking at the presentation, LASODA General Manager, Mrs Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, said the fund was intended to provide direct financial support to registered disability organisations and enhance their capacity to deliver advocacy, support and economic empowerment programmes.

She said the initiative aligned with the Lagos State Government’s THEMES Plus Development Agenda, particularly its focus on social inclusion and ensuring that persons with disabilities have equal opportunities to contribute to the state’s development.

Oyetunde-Lawal described OPDs as key partners in advancing disability inclusion, noting that their presence at the grassroots enables them to identify the needs of persons with disabilities and provide targeted support within their communities.

She reaffirmed LASODA’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with disability organisations and supporting programmes aimed at improving the wellbeing and socio-economic inclusion of persons with disabilities.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chairman of the Albinism Association of Nigeria, Tolani Ojuri, thanked the Lagos State Government and LASODA for the intervention and their continued partnership with the disability community.
