Kwam 1 Brokers Peace Between MC Oluomo, Tafa Sego After Years-long Rift

Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, has brokered a reconciliation between National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) National President, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, and Lagos State Chairman, Mustapha Adekunle, popularly known as Tafa Sego.

According to a report by The Punch, the reconciliation took place at Ojusagbola in Ijebu, Ogun State, in the presence of several NURTW chieftains.

The development was announced on Tuesday through Kwam 1’s digital media page on Instagram, where photographs of the meeting were shared.

Punch reported that the two NURTW leaders had settled their differences following years of strained relations.

A statement accompanying the photographs said the two men had “finally settled their differences”, adding that the development was considered final.

The statement also said the meeting was more than “another handshake for the cameras”, with Kwam 1 acting as a peacemaker in his capacity as the Mayegun of Yorubaland.

It added that both MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego were pleased with the reconciliation.

The development marks a significant moment in the relationship between the two men, who were previously allies within the Lagos NURTW before their relationship deteriorated amid disagreements over leadership and influence within the union.

Their dispute has previously spilled into public events. In January 2019, a supremacy battle involving supporters of the two men disrupted an APC campaign rally at the Sky Power Ground in Ikeja, Lagos.

MC Oluomo was injured in the violence, while the police subsequently declared Tafa Sego wanted in connection with the incident, Punch reported.

Despite their differences, both men later served within the same NURTW leadership structure.

The tension resurfaced in January 2026 during Kwam 1’s New Year All White Party in Lagos, when supporters associated with Sego’s camp reportedly reacted after the musician publicly recognised MC Oluomo as the NURTW leader.

The incident prompted Kwam 1 to appeal for unity among the rival camps.

The latest meeting in Ijebu now represents another intervention by the musician, this time bringing the two NURTW figures together to resolve their longstanding differences.

Punch reported that photographs from the meeting showed MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego together alongside Kwam 1 and other NURTW chieftains.
