“I withdrew ₦1.4m from my mother’s account to bet while she battled a stroke” — Man

A young man has reportedly been caught by residents after allegedly withdrawing about ₦1.4 million from his mother’s bank account to fund sports betting while she was battling a stroke.

In a viral video circulating on social media, the man was seen being questioned by security personnel following the alleged withdrawal.

While responding to questions, he read out figures from a document he was holding, including dates and amounts he had allegedly withdrawn from his mother’s account.

He reportedly confirmed that the total amount he had withdrawn from the account was about ₦1.4 million, which he allegedly used for sports betting.

The incident has sparked reactions online, particularly because the withdrawals were allegedly made while his mother was sick and receiving treatment for a stroke.

Some social media users criticised the young man’s actions, while others suggested that he may have hoped to make more money through betting to support his family.
