A landlord has gotten more than he bargained for after visiting a rental property he had recently issued a quit notice for, only to discover that the tenant had left behind extensive damage rather than a clean handover.
The dispute reportedly began after the landlord raised the rent on the property, a decision that ultimately led him to serve the tenant with a notice to vacate.
What he did not anticipate, however, was the state in which the tenant would leave the space once it was time to move out.
Upon inspection, the landlord found that several walls within the property had been damaged, with visible cracks and holes marking what was once a well-kept space.
Beyond the structural damage, he also discovered that key fixtures, including light fittings, switches, and even the circuit breaker, had been deliberately removed from the property before the tenant’s departure.
