EPL: Brighton sign Nigerian winger Femi Azeez on four-year deal

Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Nigerian international winger Femi Azeez from Millwall on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The Premier League club completed the deal after both clubs submitted a deal sheet ahead of the initial 11pm transfer deadline, extending the deadline until 1am on Wednesday morning.
Azeez, 25, joins Brighton after an outstanding 2025/26 campaign with Millwall, where he played a key role in their Championship playoff push.
He made 77 appearances for Millwall, scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists. His performances last season earned him a place in both the PFA and EFL Championship Teams of the Season.
In a post obtained from the club’s X handle on Wednesday, Brighton sporting director Mike Cave welcomed the winger to the club
“We are delighted to add Femi to the squad. He arrives off the back of an excellent season with Millwall, having played a key role for them as they finished in the playoffs.
“He was one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Championship, and we’re delighted to have finally agreed his transfer, and we now look forward to working with him.”
Azeez has taken an unconventional route to the Premier League, progressing through the English football pyramid.
After spending time in Watford’s youth setup, he joined non-league Northwood before spells with Wealdstone and Hanwell Town. He then earned a move to Reading in 2019 before joining Millwall in 2024.
The winger’s move to Brighton represents the latest step in an impressive rise from non-league football to the Premier League.
Azeez has also made a strong start to his international career with Nigeria. He scored both goals in the Super Eagles’ 2-0 win over Zimbabwe on his senior debut in June before providing an assist in Nigeria’s subsequent 3-0 victory over Jamaica four days later.
He will now look to continue his rapid development at Brighton as he begins his first season in the Premier League.
