10 rescued as troops foil two kidnapping attempts in Zamfara

Ten persons have been rescued after troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, foiled two separate kidnapping attempts in Zamfara State.

According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the operations were carried out on September 27, 2026, along the Tsafe–Funtua Road and at Kade Daba village in Kanoma District, Maru Local Government Area.

The first incident occurred around the Kwanoni axis of Tsafe LGA after troops responded to reports of gunfire along the highway.

The troops reportedly engaged the armed bandits in a brief exchange of fire, forcing them to flee into the surrounding area.

Before the troops arrived, the attackers had set fire to a commercial vehicle. 

The occupants were evacuated safely, while the troops secured the vehicle.

Six persons travelling in another vehicle that reportedly lost control during the attack were also rescued.

In a separate operation at Kade Daba village, troops responded to intelligence about an abduction and engaged the kidnappers.

The attackers reportedly abandoned their captives and fled after the troops arrived.

Three victims were rescued at the scene, while a follow-up search led to the recovery of another victim.

“The troops immediately deployed to the area and engaged the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee,” the report stated 

The rescued victims are receiving necessary care and assessment before being reunited with their families.
