A Nigerian man has caused buzz online after sharing the hilarious reaction of his UK-based uncle after he asked him for ₦19 million to start a business.

The man shared the exchange on X, revealing how his uncle reacted after he requested the large sum and explained that he wanted to use it to support himself and his siblings.

Nephew Asks Uncle for ₦19m

The conversation began with the man greeting his uncle and asking how things were going with him in the United Kingdom.

The uncle, identified as Dad Akeem UK, responded by asking how the man and his siblings were doing.

The man told him that things had not been easy since he graduated but that they were coping.

His uncle then asked whether he had completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), prompting the man to reveal that he had contacted him because he needed a favour.

“I need 19 million naira to start up a business here so I can support and my siblings,” the man wrote.

‘You Mean to Tell Me You Want £10,300?’

The uncle appeared surprised by the amount requested and converted the ₦19 million into pounds.

“You mean to tell me you want £10,300 from me to start a business?” he asked.

He then questioned whether his nephew understood the financial realities of living in the UK.

Do you know how much I earn? Do you know how I myself survive here?” the uncle asked.

He explained that despite spending many years in the UK, he had not been able to save up to £5,000.

“All my life I’ve been here I’ve not saved £5,000 and you are asking for 19 million naira,” he stated.

Uncle Suggests Selling Family House

The uncle then suggested that he sell his father’s property if he had the documents.

“If you have the documents to my brother’s house, you can sell the house and come and work in the UK too,” he told his nephew.

“It Was a Prank” – Nephew Claims

After seeing his uncle’s reaction, the man disclosed that the request was part of a social media prank.

“It was a Twitter prank. I’m sorry sir,” he said.

However, the uncle did not appear amused by the prank and responded bluntly.

You must be very stupid for telling me that,” he replied.

The exchange has since attracted attention online, with social media users sharing their opinions on the conversation.
