Tinubu meets ICPC chairman at Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday met with the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr Musa Aliyu, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Aliyu arrived at the Villa at about 5:40 pm for the meeting, although the reason for the visit had not been made public as of the time of filing this report.

The meeting came a day after Tinubu ordered a full forensic investigation into the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal during the Federal Executive Council meeting.

The ICPC had earlier disclosed that at least two other fake agencies were operating within government institutions.

The meeting also took place two weeks after Aliyu presented the commission’s interim report on the PFIPC investigation to Tinubu on August 6, 2026.

Tinubu had on July 7 directed the ICPC to investigate the alleged agency and its promoter, Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi.

Adeyemi had accused the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, of demanding and collecting N400m to help secure his appointment.

However, the ICPC interim report stated that Adeyemi was never appointed by the Federal Government and that the PFIPC was not created by any law, executive order or valid government document.

The commission also said the appointment letter presented by Adeyemi was forged and did not come from the Presidency.

According to the ICPC, Adeyemi also created two other fake agencies: the FCT Investment Promotion Agency and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency and Public-Private Partnership. The commission said he used forged documents to open bank accounts for the agencies.

The ICPC further alleged that Adeyemi unlawfully took over the former office of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council after breaking its locks.

The commission recommended that Adeyemi be prosecuted. It also called for administrative action against public officials whose actions, inaction or negligence contributed to the scandal.

The ICPC further recommended reforms to strengthen internal controls across affected government ministries, departments and agencies.

Details of Thursday’s meeting between Tinubu and Aliyu were not immediately available.
