YEDC Begins Refund of Unused Electricity Credits to Customers

The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has commenced the YEDC refund of unused electricity credits to customers who had outstanding units on obsolete meters replaced under the Distribution Sector Recovery Programme (DISREP) metering initiative.
The refund exercise is expected to provide relief to electricity consumers who lost access to unused credit balances when their old meters were replaced with new DISREP meters.

In a statement issued by its management on Wednesday, YEDC said the refund programme applies to customers who surrendered obsolete meters with unused electricity credit balances before receiving new DISREP meters.
The company explained that the refunds are being processed in batches based on the submission of old meters and successful verification of customers’ meter information.

According to the electricity distribution company, refunds for 501 customers have already been processed, while another set of eligible customers is currently undergoing verification.
YEDC Gives Refund Collection Guidelines
YEDC advised customers who submitted obsolete meters containing unused credit units to visit their designated vending points to claim their refunded tokens.

The company urged customers whose names were not included in the current batch to remain patient, assuring them that their refunds would be processed in subsequent batches after completing the necessary verification and validation procedures.
The distribution company said the exercise was part of efforts to reconcile customer credit balances following the transition from old meters to the new DISREP metering system.
YEDC appealed for continued cooperation from electricity consumers as the refund process continues, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that all eligible customers receive the credits owed to them.
