UK's former defence minister warns world is 'sleepwalking' into World War Three

The UK’s former defence minister is warning the world is “sleepwalking” into World War Three.
The latest headlines today surround the war between Ukraine and Russia, including airstrikes on Ukraine. According to Ukraine, North Korea is boosting support for Russia, including drone operators.
President Trump is causing turmoil between the US and Canada over tariffs, and Iran is currently vowing to ‘neutralise’ economic war and issues a fresh Strait of Hormuz warning.
Tobias Elwood has raised concerns over the rise of authoritarianism and the growing split between Western and Eastern countries.
Speaking with Newstalk, he says people are in denial about where the world is heading: “This is where our world, from my perspective, could slide to unless we wake up; there’s an urgency to where our world is heading.”
“I mean today’s headlines remind us constantly we’ve entered a darker, more dangerous chapter; nations are rearming, new alliances are forming; it’s understandable that we are now making more parallels increasingly with 1937, with authoritarianism on the rise.”
