The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate in connection with the abduction of Abubakar Abdullahim at Molege, near Owo, on August 1, 2026.
The arrests followed sustained intelligence gathering and coordinated operations by operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Akure.
Acting on credible intelligence, the operatives moved to Ibadan, Oyo State, where they worked with the Oyo State Police Command to arrest one of the suspects, identified as Adamu Rabiu.
A second suspect, Haruna Likita, was subsequently arrested around Ipele, near Owo, Ondo State, in connection with the same incident.
The Police say preliminary investigations have established links between the two suspects and the kidnap of Abubakar Abdullahim.
According to the Command, both suspects made statements during interrogation admitting their alleged involvement in the crime.
The Police say the statements, alongside other intelligence gathered, are being further investigated to establish the full circumstances of the kidnapping and identify other persons who may be connected to the crime.
The Command says it is also intensifying efforts to uncover the wider network and operational structure of the syndicate, with a view to arresting all those involved.
The suspects are expected to be charged to court after the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Felix Ohagwu, commended the operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for what he described as their diligence, courage and commitment to protecting lives and property.
