Trump Orders US Flags At Half-Mast To Honour Dolly Parton

US President Donald Trump has directed that American flags be flown at half-mast across the country for one week in honour of country music legend, Dolly Parton, who died at the age of 80.

The order, announced on Tuesday, August 25, will remain in effect until sunset on September 1, 2026.

It applies to the White House, all public buildings and grounds, military installations, naval stations, and US embassies and diplomatic missions around the world.

Announcing the tribute on his Truth Social platform, Trump described Parton as one of the greatest figures in country music and said her death was a profound loss to millions of fans.

“There has never been anyone like her, and never will,” the US president said.

Parton, whose career spanned more than six decades, was celebrated as a singer, songwriter, actress, businesswoman and philanthropist.
