Security Agents Arrest Over 100 Alleged ‘Imported’ Voters In Osun

More than 100 persons allegedly brought into Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election have reportedly been arrested by security operatives.
The individuals were said to be carrying newly issued Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), prompting concerns about their presence in the state and the circumstances under which they obtained the voter cards.
According to reports, the suspected voters were allegedly accommodated at the residence of Abiola Ibrahim, said to be a member of the Accord Party.
The reported arrests occurred amid heightened security operations across Osun State, with security agencies stepping up surveillance of political activities and movements ahead of the poll.
However, several details surrounding the incident remain unclear at the time of filing this report, including how the individuals arrived in Osun, who allegedly facilitated their movement and whether they were legitimately registered voters in the state.
The specific security agency responsible for the reported arrests was also yet to be officially confirmed. It was equally unclear whether the suspects have been formally charged with any electoral offence.

The development comes against the backdrop of heightened concerns over alleged attempts by political actors to manipulate the outcome of the closely contested election.
Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking re-election, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, and other contenders are also campaigning for the governorship seat.
Security agencies have maintained a strong presence across Osun as part of efforts to prevent electoral offences, protect voters and ensure a peaceful and credible election.
Authorities are expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the reported arrests, including the identities of those detained and the status of the PVCs allegedly found in their possession.
