RMAFC Completes Revenue Allocation Formula Review, Recommendations Await Approval

The Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has completed the comprehensive review of Nigeria’s Revenue Allocation Formula, with its recommendations now awaiting consideration by the appropriate authorities.

The commission also announced that it had concluded the review of remuneration for judicial office holders, while similar reviews covering political and public office holders had reached an advanced stage.
Speaking at a strategic stakeholders’ engagement in Lagos, RMAFC Chairman, Mohammed Bello Shehu, highlighted the commission’s Strategic Communications and Institutional Reform Initiative.
Shehu said the review of the revenue allocation formula followed nationwide consultations and assessments of Nigeria’s current fiscal realities.
He stressed that improved remuneration for public officials must be accompanied by greater accountability and better service delivery.

The commission also unveiled its 2026-2030 strategic plan, aimed at improving transparency, strengthening media engagement and enhancing public understanding of Nigeria’s revenue allocation system.
The review is expected to provide a new framework for the distribution of revenue among the Federal Government, states and local governments once the recommendations receive the necessary consideration and approval.
