Police Recover Assault Rifles, Ammunition After Raid on Bandits’ Hideout in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command says it has recovered two assault rifles and ammunition during a raid on a suspected bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest as part of ongoing operations against kidnapping and organised crime.

The recovery followed a follow-up investigation into the arrest of four suspects accused of supplying arms, ammunition and illicit substances to bandits. The suspects were earlier paraded at the Command Headquarters on July 11, 2026.

The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday by its spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.

According to the statement, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out the operation on August 2 after acting on credible intelligence provided by one of the arrested suspects, Musbahu Ishaq.

The operation led the police to Dajin Madam Forest, located between Plateau and Bauchi states, where investigations revealed that the criminal syndicate operated one of its hideouts.

Police said further investigation showed that Musbahu Ishaq obtained arms and ammunition from one Rabiu Hassan and supplied them to one Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin who is currently at large and believed to be hiding in a forest in Katsina State.

A search of the hideout resulted in the recovery of two AR GALIL rifles, calibre 96/.223 Model 355, bearing serial numbers G-2087951 and 2011432, two magazines, and live .223 rounds of ammunition, which were concealed within the forest camp.

The Command said investigations were continuing to track down other members of the syndicate, recover additional weapons linked to the network and prosecute all those involved.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks through intelligence-driven policing.

According to the statement, the Commissioner “reiterates the Command’s firm commitment to intelligence-led policing and assures residents that ongoing operations will continue until all members of the syndicate are apprehended and brought to justice.”

He also appealed to residents to support security efforts by volunteering useful information to the police.
