PC-NCG Warns Against Fake Recruitment Into Proposed Nigerian Coast Guard

The Provisional Committee of the Proposed Nigerian Coast Guard, PC-NCG, has warned Nigerians to beware of fraudsters collecting money and falsely claiming government authority to recruit into the proposed Nigerian Coast Guard.
In a statement issued by the Director of Communication and Public Affairs, Piriye Kiyaramo, on behalf of the Chief Executive and Accounting Officer, Captain Noah Ichaba, the committee said the bill for the establishment of the Nigerian Coast Guard is still before the National Assembly and no recruitment has been authorized.
“National institutions must never be reduced to personal claims or private interests. Their legitimacy must be protected with discipline and fidelity to the law,” the statement said.
It said the name Nigerian Coast Guard carries national authority and public trust, adding that no private individual or organisation has the authority to recruit, appoint, train, confer ranks, issue ID cards, sell uniforms, or collect money in the name of the proposed Nigerian Coast Guard until it is lawfully established by the federal government.

The PC-NCG therefore, urged the public not to pay any recruitment, training, or placement fees, accept uniforms, ranks, ID cards, or certificates from private persons, but instead verify any claim of recruitment with appropriate government authorities
“Such fake activities can lead to financial exploitation, false job expectations, and damage to the credibility of the Coast Guard proposal.
“PC-NCG calls on security and government agencies to investigate and act against anyone misusing the name of the proposed Nigerian Coast Guard. The committee will provide evidence where lawfully required.
“Nigeria needs a Coast Guard that begins with law, legitimacy, and professionalism, not confusion. Its authority must come from the constitution and an Act of the National Assembly, not private declarations,” Captain Ichaba stated.
