Nyameh Hails Adeleke’s Victory, Says Osun Poll Affirms People’s Democratic Choice

The Accord Party’s gubernatorial candidate in the Taraba state, Professor Jerome Nyameh, has described the outcome of the just-concluded governorship election in Osun State as a strong affirmation of the people’s democratic choice.
Nyameh, in a press statement issued in Jalingo on Sunday while congratulating Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his reported victory, commended the people of the state for what he described as their courage, resilience and determination to protect their votes despite alleged intimidation, political pressure and opposition directed at the Accord Party and its candidate.
He said the outcome of the election underscored the power of citizens in a democratic society, stressing that the collective will of the electorate could not be suppressed when the people remained united and determined to defend their choices.
According to Nyameh, the reported victory was significant not only for Governor Adeleke and his supporters but also for the Accord Party and its members, who, he said, demonstrated commitment to the democratic process.
“The victory was significant not only for Governor Adeleke and his supporters but also for the Accord Party and its members, who demonstrated commitment to the democratic process,” Nyameh said.
He congratulated Adeleke on the outcome, saying the electorate had made its choice and expressed its democratic will through the ballot.
“Congratulations, Your Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, on your victory.
“To the good people of Osun State, you have made your choice, and your voice has been heard,” he added.
The former Taraba governorship candidate also commended voters who, according to him, remained steadfast in defending their ballots throughout the electoral process.
Nyameh alleged that the Accord Party and its candidate faced intimidation, pressure and political opposition, but maintained that the electorate refused to be deterred from exercising their democratic rights.
He described the development as a reminder that democracy derives its legitimacy from the people, arguing that citizens who stand together can protect the integrity of their choices and ensure that their voices are heard.
The Accord chieftain called on political actors across the country to respect the wishes of the electorate and uphold the principles of peaceful political participation, tolerance and respect for democratic outcomes.
