NITDA, Women Educators Partner On Nationwide Digital Literacy Programme

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced a partnership with the National Association of Women in Colleges of Education to launch a nationwide digital literacy, entrepreneurship and STEM training programme for female educators and their students.

The initiative was unveiled during a meeting at NITDA headquarters, where the association’s North-West Zonal Coordinator, Zainab Inuwa Adamu, invited the agency’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, to serve as patron of its forthcoming national conference.

Adamu said the association, which has existed for more than three decades, has been committed to protecting female educators and empowering young girls through vocational skills such as tailoring, knitting and soap-making.

Responding, Abdullahi welcomed the invitation and proposed the development of digital literacy and information technology training programmes for the association’s members, with a nationwide rollout to be launched at the conference.

“Rather than one-off support, we should focus on building lasting capacity that equips women with digital and entrepreneurial skills,” he said.

He said the programme would include digital marketing, business planning and entrepreneurship training to strengthen women’s businesses while creating mentorship opportunities for the girls they support.

The NITDA chief also stressed the need to encourage more young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), particularly in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and data science.

He pledged to provide digital tools and learning materials for the initiative and invited the association to participate in the Digital Nigeria Conference 2026.

Both organisations reaffirmed their commitment to using technology to empower women educators and prepare the next generation of Nigerian girls for opportunities in the digital economy.
