National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, has declared that he has never lost an election throughout his political career.
Speaking in an interview with Ambassador TV monitored by GH Page, Asiedu Nketia said he could not recall ever contesting an election and being defeated.
“I don’t remember contesting and losing an election,” he stated.
The veteran politician, however, recounted one occasion when an election ended in a run-off due to a closely contested race.
According to him, rather than proceeding with another round of voting, he voluntarily stepped aside and allowed the older candidate he was contesting against to emerge victorious.
“It was in one instance that there was a run-off. We had to go for another round, but I decided to sit back and allow the elder with whom I was contesting to take the win,” he explained.
Asiedu Nketia also recalled another political contest in which he faced an opponent who highlighted his education at prestigious foreign universities as a qualification for leadership.
According to the NDC chairman, he appealed to voters to give the “local boy” an opportunity, arguing that local knowledge and experience could be just as effective.
“He came with the message that he had attended prestigious universities outside the country and was the best representative. I told them to allow the local boy to go so that we would see whether local knowledge would work,” he said.
His remarks have since sparked discussions on social media, with many weighing in on his political career and confidence in his electoral track record.
