I Will Boycott 2027 Election If PDP Candidate Is Blocked – Bode George

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Bode George, says he may refuse to vote in the 2027 presidential election if what he described as the ongoing crisis in the party prevents its preferred candidate from appearing on the ballot.

Speaking on Beyond the Headlines, the elder statesman insisted that the PDP’s internal leadership dispute remained unresolved despite the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) publishing a list of presidential candidates.

George argued that the matter was still before the courts and maintained that only a final judgment by the Supreme Court would determine the legitimacy of the party’s leadership and presidential candidate.

Asked whether he would support President Bola Tinubu if the PDP failed to secure its preferred candidate, George ruled out backing any other candidate.

“If they don’t allow my party, I probably will stay in my house,” he said.

Pressed further on whether that meant he would not vote, George replied that he would rather remain at home “and take my coffee and tea and relax” than participate in an election in which, according to him, his party had been denied a fair opportunity.

He also urged President Tinubu to ensure all eligible candidates were allowed to contest freely, arguing that the incumbent already enjoyed the advantage of incumbency and did not need what he described as “attack dogs” to intimidate opponents.

George said a free and credible contest would strengthen Nigeria’s democracy and restore public confidence in the electoral process.
