Hollywood mourns Hayden Panettiere as Heroes and Nashville star dies at 36

US actress, Hayden Panettiere, best known for her roles in Heroes and Nashville, has died at the age of 36, with her father describing her as “an incredible light and a force of nature”.

Panettiere’s death was announced in a statement by her father, Skip Panettiere, who expressed “profound sadness” over the loss of his daughter.

Skip said the actress brought “immeasurable love and joy” to those who knew her and the millions who watched her on screen, while asking the public to respect the family’s privacy.

Actress remembered for major TV and film roles

Panettiere began her acting career as a child and was only four when she appeared on the US soap opera One Life to Live. She later featured in films including Remember the Titans, Raising Helen and Bring It On: All or Nothing.

She gained widespread recognition as cheerleader Claire Bennet in the science fiction series Heroes, before taking on the role of country-pop singer Juliette Barnes in Nashville.

Her performance in Nashville earned her two consecutive Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress in 2013 and 2014.

Panettiere also appeared as Kirby Reed in the Scream franchise, including Scream 4 and Scream VI.

Stars and fans react to Hayden Panettiere’s death

Following news of her death, several actors and entertainers shared emotional tributes.

Actress Selma Blair wrote, “I love you. Don’t be gone. Please,” while Scream VI co-star Melissa Barrera said, “Rest in peace sweet Hayden”.

Singer JoJo described the news as “such devastating news”, while actors’ union SAG-AFTRA said, “Our hearts are with her daughter, family, friends & fans.”

Panettiere’s father said, “We ask for privacy as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss.”

The actress is survived by her daughter, Kaya, whom she shared with former partner and Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko. No cause of death had been confirmed in the report.
