Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Chief of Army Staff for approving the establishment of the Nigerian Army’s 10 Division in Jalingo, describing the decision as a major boost to security in the North-East.
The governor made the remarks after inspecting the project site of the new 10 Division Nigerian Army Barracks in Yali Community, near Sibre, on the outskirts of Jalingo.
Governor Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the operational take-off of the new military formation, noting that the state government would continue to work closely with the Nigerian Army to ensure the project’s successful completion.
He said Taraba’s selection to host the division was strategic and well deserved, explaining that the site was originally designated for the 6 Brigade Barracks and has sufficient land and infrastructure to accommodate the new division.
According to the governor, the inspection was to assess the level of work completed, identify areas requiring improvement, and ensure the speedy execution of the project.

Governor Kefas also disclosed that temporary facilities had been arranged to enable the division to commence operations while construction of the permanent barracks continues.
He expressed confidence that the establishment of the 10 Division would strengthen security in Taraba State and neighbouring states, while also stimulating economic activities and accelerating infrastructure development in the host community.
The governor noted that the project reflects the strong partnership between the Taraba State Government and the Nigerian Army in tackling insecurity and promoting sustainable development.
During the inspection, Major Esosasere Ernest Omorodion conducted the governor round the project site, briefing him on the progress of construction and the various facilities that will make up the new military barracks.
