Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Muslims across the country to reflect the virtues of Prophet Mohammed and promote peace, compassion and unity in their communities.
Remi Tinubu made the call in her message to Muslim faithful as they celebrate Eid-El-Maulud 2026, commemorating the birth of Prophet Mohammed.
She urged Muslims to draw inspiration from the Prophet’s life and teachings, particularly his values of compassion, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence.
The first lady said the virtues remain important in fostering unity and strengthening relationships among Nigerians at a time when peace and mutual understanding are needed.
“As we commemorate Eid-el-Maulud 2026, I extend my warm greetings to Muslim faithful across Nigeria.
“The celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) reminds us of his exemplary life and enduring virtues of compassion, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence.
“I encourage all Muslim faithful to emulate these noble virtues and continue to promote peace in our homes, communities and nation.
“May this celebration strengthen the bonds of unity among us and bring renewed hope, peace, and blessings to all Nigerians. Happy Eid-El-Maulud 2026!” she said.
The first lady also called for the celebration to serve as an opportunity to strengthen the bonds of unity and promote peaceful coexistence among Nigerians regardless of religious or ethnic differences.
Eid-El-Maulud is observed by Muslims to mark the birth of Prophet Mohammed and is traditionally associated with prayers, religious gatherings and reflection on his teachings and exemplary life.
