The new Speaker, Yekini Idaiye, disclosed that Agbebaku was removed over alleged financial impropriety and poor leadership.

Idaiye also accused Agbebaku of inflating the prices of Lexus 570 and Toyota Hilux vehicles purchased for members of the assembly.

The committee set up to probe the former Speaker is to be chaired by Iyamu Bright, representing Orhionmwon II, while Alhaji Yahaya Omogbai, the Clerk of the House, will serve as secretary.

Other members are Donald Okogbe, Akoko-Edo II; Uzamere Andrew, Ovia North-East II; Ugabi Kingsley, Etsako East; and Maria Edeko, Esan North-East II.

Idiaye gave the committee two weeks to submit its report to the House.
The Speaker also announced the dissolution of all standing committees of the House.

Meanwhile, the House has ordered Agbebaku, former Majority Leader, Jonathan Ibhamawu, Deputy Majority Leader, Addeh Emankhu Isibor, and the Chief of Staff to the former Speaker, to hand over all official vehicles and other government properties in their possession to the Clerk of the House.

“In view of what transpired yesterday, which was the change of leadership of the House, I want to, from the red chair here, appeal to the former Speaker, the Majority Leader, the Deputy Majority Leader, including the former Chief of Staff to the office of Mr. Speaker, that all government properties, especially the vehicles in their possession, should immediately be returned to the office of the Clerk.

“Secondly, I want to inform my colleagues that all standing House committees are hereby dissolved,” Idiaye said while presiding over plenary on Tuesday.
