Fadahunsi Apologises for Palace Remarks, Denies Calling for Violence

Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi, OFR, has apologised for the tension generated by remarks he made during a campaign visit to the palace of the Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland, Owa Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, following the conclusion of the Osun State governorship election.
Fadahunsi said his visit was primarily to seek justice and express his grief over the killing of some members of his political party. He maintained that he never called for violence or chaos, describing the interpretation of his comments as unfair.
The senator explained that his remarks were made at a difficult emotional moment following the deaths of party members.
He also commended the Owa of Ijesaland for his calm, wisdom and leadership in handling the situation, saying the monarch’s balanced response helped prevent the matter from escalating.
Fadahunsi stressed that the peace and unity of Osun State and Ijesaland are more important than political victories, defeats or disagreements, and offered a sincere apology for the tension arising from the misunderstanding.
While maintaining his demand for justice, the senator called on the Osun State Government and security agencies to properly investigate the reported killings and ensure that those responsible face justice through lawful and peaceful means.
He also urged his supporters and residents to put political differences aside, respect traditional institutions and work towards healing and reconciliation following the election.
