Davido Fires Back At Sowore After ‘Nothing Upstairs’ Comment About Governor Adeleke

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has fired back at activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, after he described Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke as a leader who has “nothing upstairs.”
Sowore made the remark while assessing Governor Adeleke’s administration and questioning his level of control over the affairs of Osun State.
In a video from an interview, Sowore alleged that the governor does not independently run the state, claiming that members of the Adeleke family, including the governor’s sister and his elder brother, billionaire businessman, Adedeji Adeleke, have significant influence over the administration.
“What I saw in Governor Adeleke’s leadership is that the guy is not even in control of his government,” Sowore said.
He also referenced Governor Adeleke’s appearance at an Arise TV town hall programme, saying he was “appalled” that Adeleke was governing the state.
According to Sowore, the state was effectively being run by members of the governor’s family. “As a person, Ademola has nothing upstairs,” he added.
The comment, however, caught the attention of Davido, who is Governor Adeleke’s nephew.
Reacting to Sowore’s remarks shared online, Davido appeared to dismiss the politician’s criticism with a blunt Yoruba insult, describing him as “Arindin.”
The Yoruba expression is commonly used to describe someone regarded as foolish or lacking sense.
Davido’s response has added a fresh layer to the already heated political conversation surrounding Governor Adeleke’s leadership, particularly as criticism of the Osun State administration continues to attract public attention.

The singer has previously shown strong support for his uncle, especially when political controversies involving the governor have erupted.
Sowore, meanwhile, remains one of the prominent voices critical of Nigeria’s political establishment and has frequently used his public platforms to challenge elected officials.
The latest exchange has sparked a fresh debate online, with attention now shifting from Sowore’s assessment of Adeleke’s administration to Davido’s fiery response.
While Sowore questioned whether Governor Adeleke has control of his government, Davido’s reaction suggests that the singer is not prepared to let criticism of his uncle go unanswered.
