Bolt airport operations – The Trumpet Newspaper Nigeria

Bolt has resumed operations at airports managed by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) after the aviation authority resolved outstanding issues surrounding the e-hailing company’s activities at airport premises.
FAAN announced the development on Thursday, August 27, 2026, following discussions with Bolt that resulted in an agreed operational framework for the company’s services at FAAN-managed airports.
Key Highlights:
- Bolt has been cleared to resume operations immediately at FAAN-managed airports.
- FAAN and Bolt agreed on a new framework for e-hailing services at airport premises.
- FAAN said its airport transport regulations are aimed at improving passenger safety and security.
- The authority clarified that ACHRAMS is not a competitor to Bolt or Uber.
- Discussions with other e-hailing operators are ongoing.
- FAAN apologised to passengers affected by the temporary suspension of e-hailing services.
In a statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, FAAN said the decision followed constructive engagements between the authority and Bolt.
“FAAN and Bolt have reached an agreeable operational framework and Bolt is cleared to commence its services at FAAN-managed airports immediately,” the authority said.

The resolution comes after the temporary suspension of e-hailing services at some Nigerian airports, a development that affected travellers and generated complaints over limited transportation options.
Why FAAN Regulated Airport E-Hailing Services
FAAN said its decision to regulate commercial and e-hailing vehicles at airports was driven by concerns over passenger solicitation, touting, random pick-ups, unregulated operations and safety and security within airport premises.
The authority also noted that some drivers operate across multiple e-hailing platforms, making it necessary to strengthen the monitoring and management of commercial transportation services at airports.
To address the concerns, FAAN introduced the Airport Car Hire Rank Management System (ACHRAMS).
The authority, however, clarified that ACHRAMS was not established to compete with e-hailing platforms such as Bolt and Uber.
“ACHRAMS is not an e-hailing application and was never conceived as a competitor to Uber, Bolt or any other mobility platform. Its function is limited to the management of airport car-hire ranks and the authorised operations associated with them,” FAAN said.
FAAN Engages Other E-Hailing Operators
FAAN said the agreement with Bolt demonstrated that airport security and regulatory requirements could be maintained without preventing passengers from accessing e-hailing services.
The authority disclosed that discussions with other e-hailing operators were still ongoing, expressing optimism that the outstanding engagements would be concluded in the coming days.
FAAN also assured passengers that they remained free to choose their preferred means of transportation, provided the services operate within the approved airport framework.
The authority apologised to travellers who experienced inconvenience during the temporary disruption, stressing that passenger welfare, convenience and security remained central to its decisions.
The development affects airports under FAAN’s management, including the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
