The Benue State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the establishment of the Nigerian Army’s 5 Division Headquarters in Makurdi and other approved military formations across the State.

Governor Hyacinth Alia gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving the Army Headquarters Implementation Committee, pledging the state’s full cooperation to ensure the successful take-off of the military formations.

Alia described the decision by President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian Army as a historic step that would significantly strengthen security and boost public confidence across Benue and neighbouring states.

“I reaffirmed the commitment of the Benue State Government to provide full support for the establishment of the 5 Division Headquarters in Makurdi and other approved military formations in the state,” the governor said.

He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the Nigerian Army for approving the project.

“I deeply appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of the Nigerian Army for this historic decision, which will strengthen security, protect lives and property, and restore public confidence across Benue, Nasarawa and Kogi States,” Alia added.

The establishment of the 5 Division Headquarters is expected to enhance military operations and improve security coordination across Nigeria’s North-Central region.
