‘Agreement Is Agreement’— Keyamo Speaks on Adeleke’s Re-election

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election in the just concluded governorship election in the state.
He described the victory as historic while stressing the need to honour political agreements.
Keyamo, in two separate posts on X on Sunday, joined prominent figures congratulating Adeleke after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner of the Osun State governorship election.
The minister’s message was notable for his reference to Adeleke’s earlier public endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at a press conference after his declaration as winner, Adeleke said President Tinubu is a son of Osun State.
He appreciated Tinubu for what he described as a free, fair and credible election.
On his part, Keyamo said the governor’s endorsement should be honoured, emphasising the importance of keeping political commitments.
He wrote, “Huge congratulations to Governor Ademola Adeleke on his historic victory in the governorship election in Osun State.
“Thank you, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for the public and unequivocal endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT for the 2027 Presidential Election. You are a man of integrity and honour. ‘Agreement is agreement.’”
Adeleke, the candidate of the Accord party, was declared winner of Saturday’s election after polling 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.
The State Returning Officer for the election and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, announced the result at about 7:24 a.m. on Sunday.
According to the official results, 1,005,800 votes were cast, with 985,079 recorded as valid votes and 20,721 rejected.
Adeleke’s victory has continued to attract congratulatory messages from political leaders across the country, including President Tinubu.
Earlier, in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president said he had personally called Adeleke earlier in the day to congratulate him on his re-election.
President Tinubu described the result as a confirmation of the confidence the people of Osun State have in Adeleke.
“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” Tinubu said.
The President urged Adeleke to put the election behind him and focus on uniting the people of the state, regardless of their political affiliations.
“Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election,” he said.
Tinubu also commended the other candidates for their participation in the election, saying their conduct contributed to the deepening of Nigeria’s democratic culture.
He said the outcome represented the will of the people and reaffirmed the resilience of democracy in the country.
The President further praised INEC and security agencies for the peaceful conduct of the election and urged all stakeholders to support Adeleke’s administration in advancing the development and welfare of Osun residents.
