In a major move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s fight against insecurity, the Adamawa State Government has pledged full support for the establishment of the newly approved Nigerian Army 10 Division, a strategic military formation expected to enhance security operations across Adamawa and Taraba States.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri made the commitment while receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Army Headquarters, led by Major General Bassy Ime, who represented the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, at the Government House in Yola.

The newly established division is expected to improve the military’s operational capacity in the North-East by increasing troop deployment, strengthening surveillance along Nigeria’s border communities, and ensuring faster responses to security threats.

Governor Fintiri described the creation of the new division as a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to combat insurgency, kidnapping, banditry and other emerging security challenges.

To facilitate the project, the governor announced that the Adamawa State Government would allocate hectares of land for military barracks, operational bases and training facilities.

He assured the delegation that all necessary documentation, including the issuance of the Certificate of Occupancy, would be completed within two weeks to enable the immediate commencement of the project.

According to the governor, the state government remains committed to partnering with security agencies to maintain peace and protect lives and property, while urging the Nigerian Army to sustain its operations across Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, Gombe and other parts of the country facing security challenges.

Earlier, Major General Bassy O. Ime explained that the Army Headquarters constituted the assessment team to identify suitable locations for the immediate deployment of troops and the establishment of military formations under the new division.

He said the team would inspect strategic locations in Yola, Ganye, Gombi, Mubi and Madagali, areas considered critical to improving security coverage and enhancing military presence, particularly in vulnerable border communities.

The establishment of the 10 Division is expected to strengthen the Nigerian Army’s operational effectiveness in the North-East, improve border security, enhance coordination of military operations and reinforce ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace in one of the country’s most strategically important regions.
