Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has said the 163 victims rescued from captivity following the terrorist attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area are receiving medical treatment and support before returning home.
The governor disclosed this in a statement posted on his official X handle on Thursday, August 6, following the successful rescue operation carried out by security agencies in the Kainji Lake National Park forest.
According to AbdulRazaq, the state government is preparing to receive the victims after the completion of their medical procedures and will provide additional support to facilitate their reintegration into society.
“The rescued citizens are currently receiving comprehensive medical care and support at a federal health facility. We will be glad to receive them in the state upon the completion of their medical procedures so that we can also offer necessary support to ease their reintegration process,” he said.
The governor also appealed to residents of the state to continue supporting security agencies with credible intelligence to help prevent future attacks.
“I urge residents of Kwara to continue to share useful security information with the authorities to forestall these criminal attacks and make our communities safer and more peaceful,” AbdulRazaq said.
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for deploying additional troops and military equipment to the state through the establishment of new military formations, describing the intervention as a boost to ongoing security operations.
The governor expressed confidence that the strengthened security presence would lead to more successes in the fight against terrorism and other criminal activities.
“I am grateful to President Bola Tinubu for committing more boots and military hardware on ground in our state with the establishment of new military formations. I am very hopeful that more successes lie ahead in our war against the terrorists. We will also continue to collaborate with our security to prevent the recurrence of this ugly trend,” he added.
TVC News Online had earlier reported that the 163 victims abducted during the terrorist attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area regained their freedom after spending several months in captivity.
The Kwara State Government announced the rescue on Thursday, commending President Tinubu, security agencies and all those involved in the operation that led to the victims’ release.
