Waltz: Military action against Iran still on the table even as U.S. strikes on hold

The Trump administration’s Mike Waltz said military action against Iran remains an option even as U.S. air strikes against the regime have been on hold since Friday.
President Trump is keeping all options on the table, the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
“What the president is doing right now, as we’ve seen all along, is giving the talks some space,” he said. “Talks are ongoing. They’re happening at every level from the more technical aspects of it, all the way to the highest levels.”
Mr. Waltz said there is division among Iranian officials, with some sides pushing for more aggressive actions against the U.S. and its allies while others want to move in a different direction.
“That makes it hugely challenging from a diplomatic standpoint to get to some reasonable resolution here,” he said.
Sen. Mark Kelly, Arizona Democrat, said the White House is flailing in Iran because the Trump administration began the mission without a strategic goal.

“At first … this was about regime change. Then it became about nuclear weapons, then about ballistic missiles, then about the [Iranian] navy,” Mr. Kelly said Sunday on “Meet the Press.” “This thing has been a disaster. It’s been a disaster for the American people.”
He said the Pentagon is rapidly burning through its critical missile and weapons stockpiles due to the conflict with Iran.
“This thing has been a disaster, and they do not know what to do,” Mr. Kelly said.
