INEC Calls on Nigerians to Complete Voter Registration Before CVR Deadline

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has called on eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the final day of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by registering or updating their voter information before the deadline.

In a message shared on its official X account, the electoral body reminded citizens that the exercise covers new voter registration, transfer of voter registration, correction of personal information, and replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

INEC urged Nigerians not to miss the opportunity to participate in the electoral process, stressing that only registered voters will be eligible to vote in the 2027 general election.

“Register to vote or update your voter information before the close of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise today, Sunday, July 26, 2026.”

The commission advised prospective voters to complete the process through its online CVR portal or visit any INEC state or local government office before the registration exercise officially ends.

The current voter registration exercise was extended by two weeks earlier this month to allow more eligible Nigerians to enroll ahead of the 2027 elections.

INEC launched the first phase of the CVR in August 2025 with online pre-registration before commencing physical registration later that month. By the end of the phase in December 2025, the commission had successfully completed 2,572,054 registrations, including 1,503,832 online registrations and 1,068,222 physical registrations.

The second phase, which ran from January 5 to April 17, 2026, recorded an additional 3,748,704 completed registrations nationwide. The third and final phase began in May and officially concludes today.
