Three injured as troops repel terrorist attack on Zamfara military base
Nigerian troops have repelled a terrorist attack on a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Moriki, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X by security analyst, Zagazola Makama on Saturday night.
According to the post, the attack occurred at about 1:00 a.m. on Friday when the terrorists launched an assault on the military base from different directions.
Security sources quoted by Makama said troops of Combat Team 5 (CT 5) held their positions and engaged the attackers in a gun battle.
The troops were able to repel the attack, forcing the terrorists to retreat from the base.
The sources added that three civilians were hit by stray bullets during the attack.
“The injured victims were immediately evacuated to a hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment,” Makama wrote.
Following the attack, security has been strengthened around the area to prevent another assault.
“The situation has since been brought under control, while security has been reinforced in the area to prevent further attacks,” the security sources said, according to the post.
