“I begged them to stop, but they kept watching my wife’s nakedness” – Man accuses Nigerian police of alleged misconduct

A Nigerian man has shared a disturbing encounter with police officers, accusing them of humiliating him, searching his private phone and watching intimate videos of his wife shortly after she gave birth.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), he alleged that he was stopped at a police checkpoint while rushing to the bank to withdraw money for his family after his wife welcomed a baby.

According to him, officers questioned his tinted permit and roadworthiness before demanding money to buy fuel. After telling them he had no cash, he claimed he was taken to a nearby police office.

In his words, he said:

“My wife had just given birth, so I went to the market to buy food. They stopped me at a checkpoint and started asking for money. I told them I was rushing to the bank because my family needed to eat. Instead, they took me to their office.”

The man further alleged that an officer seized his phone, searched through it and began watching videos of his wife while she was naked in labour.

He stressed that the officer ignored his pleas to stop and also searched his bank account, accusing him of being a fraudster.

“He started watching videos of my wife while she was naked in labour. I told him it was my wife, but he shouted at me to keep quiet. They searched my bank account, stripped me and later asked me to help them complete their building with ₦40 million,” he added.

He said the officers later returned his documents and released him after he declined their request. His allegations have since sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians calling for an investigation.
