Delta orders arrest of governor’s aide attackers

The Delta State Government has ordered security agencies to immediately hunt down, arrest and prosecute those behind the brutal attack on Simon Mudi, popularly known as Temple, a protocol aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, warning that the perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.

Temple was allegedly attacked during the Delta Central APC Stakeholders’ Meeting held last Sunday at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun, in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

 

Confirming the development, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, said the state government was deeply disturbed by videos of the incident circulating on social media.

According to him, the footage showed Temple being repeatedly assaulted by armed youths, leaving him with serious and life-threatening injuries.

 

“The Delta State Government was disturbed by videos of the incident circulating on social media, particularly the brutal assault on Simon Mudi, alias Temple, who serves as a protocol aide to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori,” Aniagwu said.

 

He stressed that the Oborevwori administration would not tolerate violence, intimidation or any form of lawlessness, regardless of those involved.

 

“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has directed security agencies to identify, arrest and prosecute everyone connected with the attack.

 

“The reported acts of violence, particularly the cruel assault on Simon Mudi, are unacceptable and have no place in our society,” the statement added.

 

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace, public order and the rule of law, insisting that no individual or group would be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
