Soni Irabor, a veteran Nigerian broadcaster and communications expert, has reflected on one of the darkest moments in the country’s history, revealing that he was an eyewitness to the assassination of former Head of State, General Murtala Mohammed.
As they travelled along Ikoyi Road, they unexpectedly came across the attack and witnessed armed men firing at the Mercedes-Benz carrying the late military leader. According to him, the shocking incident unfolded before their eyes and has remained deeply etched in his memory ever since.
