FG Unveils New Initiative to Support Small Businesses Across Nigeria

The Federal Government has announced a new initiative aimed at supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are widely regarded as the backbone of Nigeria’s economy. The programme is expected to provide eligible businesses with easier access to funding, business training, and technical support to help them grow.
Officials say the initiative is designed to help entrepreneurs overcome challenges such as limited access to finance, rising operating costs, and low business productivity. The government believes strengthening small businesses will create more jobs, encourage innovation, and boost economic growth across the country.
Business owners have welcomed the announcement, expressing hope that the programme will be implemented fairly and reach genuine entrepreneurs. Many startups and existing businesses have struggled in recent years due to inflation, foreign exchange challenges, and increasing production costs.
The government is expected to release detailed application guidelines and eligibility requirements in the coming weeks. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to follow official government channels for updates and avoid individuals or organisations claiming to offer guaranteed access to the programme for a fee.
