“No election can change this government” – Isaac Fayose makes fresh allegations against INEC

Popular businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has stirred reactions online after making allegations about Nigeria’s electoral process and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a video circulating on social media, Fayose alleged that elections can no longer bring about political change in the country, claiming that voter cards left uncollected by their owners are being used for political purposes.

“No party can win election in Nigeria. I repeat, no party, no election can change this government. Look at what they’ve done in Ekiti. They said people that didn’t collect their voters’ cards are only 30,000. They were more than that, they are over 400,000,” he stated.

The social commentator further alleged that the uncollected voter cards were handed over for use by non-indigenes, who were allegedly being paid to participate in the electoral process.

According to him, areas where the cards are allegedly being deployed have recorded unusual increases in voting strength, while traditional voting strongholds have experienced declines.

“They are now sharing the cards to non-indigenes and giving them ₦20,000 to go and vote. Cards that are supposed to be in the custody of INEC. So you can see why Boko Haram, banditry and kidnapping keep growing in our country because good people that are meant to change our fortune are being rigged out.

“Nigeria no fit good. Election cannot change government in this country, I swear to God. Omo, the country is gone. INEC, shame on you,” he added.

His remarks have generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians expressing concern over the allegations, while others called for evidence to support the claims.

As of the time of filing this report, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not publicly responded to the allegations made by Isaac Fayose.
