Jigawa govt names newly commissioned road after Remi Tinubu
The Jigawa State Government has named the newly commissioned Gandun Sarki Road after Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who formally inaugurated the project.
During the same visit, the state government also named a second major road after her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The two road projects are part of ongoing efforts to improve transportation infrastructure, boost economic activities, and enhance connectivity in the rapidly growing Hadejia axis.
Mrs Tinubu visited Jigawa State on Monday, June 29, 2026, for the commissioning of key infrastructure, education, and healthcare projects aimed at improving residents’ welfare and supporting the state’s development agenda.
In Hadejia, the First Lady commissioned the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Clinic and Dialysis Centre, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road (Hadejia–Garun Gabas–Dolan), and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Academy.
She arrived at Dutse International Airport at 11:00 a.m. before proceeding to Hadejia for the road commissions and the launch of the North-West chapter of the National Community Food Bank Programme.
The National Community Food Bank Programme is an initiative aimed at tackling food insecurity by improving access to nutritious food for vulnerable households in the region.
The launch took place at the Government House Conference Hall in Dutse.
The event was attended by all seven North-West governors: Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Uba Sani (Kaduna), Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano), Dikko Umaru Radda (Katsina), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Ahmad Aliyu (Sokoto) and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara).
