Hoodlums not planning to invade our University – MOUAU tells students, staff
The management of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, MOUAU, has dismissed the reports that suspected hoodlums may soon invade the institution’s campus.
The dismissal followed the panic generated by a social media post,
The University in a statement it issued on Friday, said the false and unverified social media post was capable of causing panic among students, workers, parents of the students and the entire University community.
The University, which issued the statement through its Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Anyaso Anyaso, assured the students and staff that the University’s security unit, collaborated with relevant law enforcement agencies to investigate the claims and found no credible evidence to support the false alarm.
While stressing that the safety and welfare of its students, staff and visitors remain a top priority, the University of Agriculture said that security personnel are working round the clock to maintain close collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies, including additional patrols.
MOUAU, which warned the public against applying social media to create tensions, urged its students and staff to throw away any fear in them and go about their normal academic activities.
