Fayose Accuses INEC Of PVC Manipulation, Claims Uncollected Cards Were Exploited In Ekiti Election

Social critic and brother to the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, Isaac Fayose has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of providing inaccurate figures on the number of uncollected Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in the Ekiti State governorship election.

Fayose claimed that while INEC reported the number of uncollected PVCs as about 30,000, the actual figure was more than 400,000.

He alleged that the cards were subsequently obtained by agents of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and used to influence voters during the election.

He also accused some individuals of allegedly offering non-indigenes ₦20,000 incentives to vote for the incumbent Governor, Biodun Oyebanji.

INEC had earlier announced a 97.1 percent PVC collection rate in the state and maintained that biometric verification systems were deployed to prevent electoral irregularities.

Fayose described the development as “brazen manipulation” and later made further allegations of vote-buying at polling centres.

The claims emerged as other candidates, including ADC’s Dare Bejide, raised concerns about the conduct of the election.

Voting was conducted across 2,445 polling units, with reports of strong voter turnout.

INEC and relevant authorities have not validated the allegations, while the electoral body maintained that the process followed approved guidelines.
