Troops rescue two kidnap victims during clearance operations in Zamfara

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued two kidnapped female victims during clearance operations across Bukkuyum and Anka Local Government Areas of Zamfara State.
The rescue represents a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist hideouts, protect vulnerable residents and restore security along major transportation routes in the North-West.
The operation, led by the Acting Commander of 1 Brigade, Colonel J. Umaru, targeted suspected terrorist enclaves around the Gizaza axis and Gando Forest.
During coordinated clearance operations covering Guruso, Nassarawa, Barayazaki, Masama Mudi, Tunganyara and Gwashi communities, the advancing troops forced the terrorists to flee their hideouts.
In the course of the operation along the Gando Forest corridor, troops successfully located and rescued the two abducted victims, identified as 20-year-old Ikilima Sani and 18-year-old Shamsiyya Aliyu.
Beyond securing the freedom of the victims, the operation underscores the importance of sustained military pressure on criminal networks and their hideouts, particularly in forest corridors that have been exploited as operational bases for kidnapping and other criminal activities.
The Army said troops have continued to maintain strategic dominance over key transit routes and suspected criminal corridors through aggressive patrols to ensure the safety of commuters and residents.
The successful rescue is expected to provide renewed confidence to affected communities while reinforcing ongoing military efforts to deny terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of movement in Zamfara State.
